Information about the radio

MDR Kultur – Das Radio is a radio station of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk, which began broadcasting on January 1, 1992, as a cultural program under the name MDR Kultur. On January 1, 2004, the station's programming was restructured, and the name was changed to MDR Figaro. On May 2, 2016, as part of a restructuring of MDR, the old name was reinstated, with the subtitle 'Das Radio' added to distinguish MDR's cultural offerings on television and the internet. However, the program itself was not changed.
