Der Metalcore (Metallic Hardcore) hat sich aus dem Hardcore Punk und dem Extreme Metal entwickelt. Während die Ursprünge des Hardcore der Punkbewegung zuzuordnen sind, ist der musikalische Ursprung des Metalcore eher im Metal zu finden. Doch noch heute ist der Einfluss beider Stile klar erkennbar. Der Metalcore kombiniert meist harte und aggressive Strophen mit melodischen Refrains, Clean Vocals und heftigen Breakdowns.
