Quiet Storm FM™ Tony Smooth Jamz is a veteran radio broadcaster with over 45 years of experience in the industry. Starting his career at the age of 16 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Tony worked alongside legendary figures like NASCAR announcer Bill Cannel. His passion for smooth jamz music led him to establish Storm Radio Live, a pioneering platform dedicated to 24-hour programming that celebrates the soulful and immersive genre of smooth jamz. Tony is also associated with the trademark Quiet Storm FM, which reflects his dedication to preserving the essence of quiet and soulful music. The Quiet Storm format itself has a rich history, originating in 1976 at WHUR-FM, Howard University's radio station. It was created by Melvin Lindsey, who curated a mix of slow-tempo R&B and soul music, inspired by Smokey Robinson's 1975 album A Quiet Storm. The format quickly gained popularity, becoming a staple for late-night radio and influencing stations across the United States
