Listed as Sven & Charlotte on the Australian National Charts, the Swedish pop duo had a very minor hit in late 1975 with the same song their producers and composers would feature on their best selling self titled album. 'Bang A Boomerang' was on Abba's 1975 opus, but was Svenne & Lotta's entry into the Swedish heats for the Eurovision contest the same year. The husband and wife team had paired up with Benny & Bjorn's Hep Stars and featured on their early 70's line up, but of course once Agnetha and Annifrid were feted for future recordings, the fate of Svenne and Lotta was sealed and the rest is of course pop history. The pair continued to find success with their recordings in Scandinavia, but largely faded from view, especially with the arrival of other genres with more cache and spark - disco, punk, new wave pop etc. In looks Svenne & Lotta remind me of one hit wonders R&J Stone - the British husband and wife with their smash 'We do it'.
As 'Bang a Boomerang' was both written and produced by Abba's team, the version here is not overly different to the one that the super Swedes memorialised for themselves on the 'Abba' album.
