  I was an on-air volunteer at KTOO-FM for 18 years, and was the statio’s first chairman of the KTOO-FM/TV community advisory board. During my tenure, I oversaw a multimedia informatio campaign focused on state employees who might be affected financially, paychologically, and other ways by an anticipated economic downturn that could affect local people who might be laid off with all kinds of personal, social and psychologically. I also wrote a front page news article explaining the project. The project included a group of local resource people conducting a tv/radio simulcast phone-in program during which people could call in with questions to be answered with bankers, real estate professionals, financial planners, psychological, schooling and other resources to help people deal with problems Juneau residents might face as a result of known problems people might face. The project received a community service award from the state journalism (SDX) association, the most prestigious award presented by SDX, which is the state association of The Adsociated Press.
