  I listen from Johannesburg. I spent 2 yrs as a fellowship student at Johns Hopkins 1963-5 and while there met and often visited the great Rosa Ponselle. She got me seats at the old met where I revelled in many great performances.Also met Martinelli,Sutherland,and Schwartzkopf through Rosa.
