KUOW was first launched in 1952 as FM station. The first programming included music, local news, classroom lectures (since it was established by the University of Washington). Now it is available on 90.3 MHz FM frequencies and 1340 kHz AM frequencies and broadcasts news, talks, interviews, business reports, music. KUOW is very popular in its region – it has around 1 Mio. listeners every month. It is also an award-winning radio – they won not only local and regional but also national awards for the quality of their content.
