KNXR a commencé à émettre le 24 décembre 1965 sur 97.5 MHz sur la bande FM à Rochester, Minnesota, avec Tom Jones comme copropriétaire. Après 50 ans de service, M. Jones et son entreprise ont vendu la station en 2015. Peu de temps après, il a commencé à diffuser la même musique sur Internet, sous la marque "97Five."

SO HAPPY to see Tom is now streaming the music he played on his former station. I spoke with him some years ago about doing this when he was still the owner after I had moved out of state, but now it's here for everyone to enjoy! Thank you, Tom, for your kindness and willingness to continue to make a dark world a brighter place, you really do make a difference in the lives of those who appreciate "real" music.
