Special thanks to my friend Rosie for getting me absolutely hooked on this tune. Coming just a few years after his monster hit, Running Bear, this record is relatively unknown today, to the point that places that list the record erroneously list it as being on the Hall-Way record label! This was likely cut at Rick Hall's Fame studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama as the B side was co-written with Fame's in-studio songwriters and it just has that type of sound to the record as well. It wouldn't surprise me if some famous musician was the one playing the guitar throughout the song as well. From 1965 on the Hall record label comes this killer track which sounds like it would be a monster hit today if Dwight Yoakam would put out a version of it....it absolutely sounds like it would fit his style. You can hear killer tunes like this one live every night on www.topshelfoldies.org!
