Good old Freddie! Up there with the best of them in those heady Beatlemania days. Between 1963 and 1965 he had nine British chart singles. This one was his seventh release - and the last one to make our Top 20, peaking at #5 late in 1964. It is, of course, a variation on the traditional Scots song, "Auld Lang Syne" (originally a poem by Robert Burns) and basically means "for old times' sake".
