Written by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein. Arranged by Herb Alpert, voices and strings arranged by Shorty Rogers and produced by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss.
Originally from the musical, “The Sound Of Music”, Herb Alpert’s instrumental version was pulled from his LP, the “Christmas Album” for release on 45, coupled with “The Christmas Song”. A&M used the same picture on the album cover and on the sleeve accompanying this 45.
Shorty Rogers was also an accomplished trumpeter, who worked mostly in the jazz field until he took up arranging in the 60s. The Monkees’ “Daydream Believer” and “D.W. Washburn” were among his accomplishments.
