A Kind Of Hush Herman's Hermits

Airdate: February 4, 1967

Peter Noone and his Hermits’ cover of “It’s Kind Of A Hush” (lol) was just released and has not even hit the charts yet. It will enter the Billboard Hot 100 next week (Feb. 11) at #90 and will peak at #4 by the end of March. This will be Herman’s Hermits last song to reach the top 10.

Lance “Tac” Hammer was the drive-time DJ on Minneapolis/St. Paul’s KDWB, channel 63 (AM 630) from ’65-‘69. He remained a staple of Minneapolis radio on various stations until he passed away in 1993.

You can see a little bit of American Bandstand history today as this was the very last “Roll Call”. The “Roll Call” segment began in Philadelphia even before the show went national on ABC in 1957. Next week, Dick will introduce the “Roll Call” but with the kids answering a question instead of just giving their name and age. This “Question of the Day” segment will be a weekly feature until the big set, logo and theme song change in the Fall of ’69. The “ubiquitous” in ’67, John “rubberneck” Pollard (Dick calls him Don in this clip), is now Dr. John Pollard, Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) and author of several self-improvement books.
