I moved away from Barrie over twenty years ago. I was recently driving through Barrie, and tuned in Rock 95. I was amazed to hear nothing had changed. You play all the same songs you played over 20 years ago, and almost nothing new. In a way, it’s really nice. It brought back a lot of memories and great feelings. But it made me think about how little music seems to mean to people these days. There are still great songs being written. Fantastic bands are being formed all the time. But radio stations seem to be 24 hour memorial services for music. Why help bury it when you can help it thrive instead? There is still amazing music. Nobody is going to bring it to you, you have to go out look for it. Find it, and help people get excited about music again. I would, but I’m not a radio station.
