The only local radio station for the Forest of Dean! A series of projects working towards Community Radio in the Forest of Dean!Triangle Radio is the latest Community Radio project to start in the Forest of Dean. It follows on from the four "Triangle FM" broadcasts which have taken place since November 2010. The aim is to bring back Community Radio to the Forest of Dean.
The first "Triangle FM" project had funding from “Awards for All” and saw 14 young people (and a team of adults) setup and manage a radio station and produced and presented the station’s scheduled programmes. The training was supported by the Student Radio Station (Tone Radio) of the University of Gloucestershire. The project broadcast on the FM band covered the Cinderford area and ran fom the 26th to the 28th of November 2010.
Because of the success of that effort three more projects using the same "Triangle FM" branding were run 2011, 2012 and 2013. Each of these lasted for 10 days and focused on getting publicity for the various groups, clubs and charities working in the area.
Because of the restrictions on FM broadcasting the stations could only serve the area for a few miles around Cinderford and only for a few days a year. So now we are starting an "online" station which will stream on the internet throughout the year and which will be available to the whole Forest (and beyond!).
