Nataly’s Corner brings you the music of smooth jazz saxophonist Paul Taylor: The first track I heard by Paul Taylor was his sax version of an AWB classic tune “A Love of Your Own”. I didn’t know much about him but I knew instantly after listening to that tune that I was going to like his music. Paul and I are friends on the social media sites. Everything about the characteristics of Paul is just like the music he plays: charismatic, mellow, and genuine.
Paul Taylor is originally from Denver, Colorado but from what I have read about him, he currently resides in Las Vegas. His interest for the saxophone began at age 7. It was jazz keyboardist Keiko Matusi and her husband who first heard Paul playing and then supported him in producing his first album, “On the Horn” in 1995. He also played a short time with the jazz group, Rippingtons, between 1999 and 2000. Paul has released 10 albums since 1995, with the album “Tenacity” being his most current release in 2014, and all have been successful placements on the Contemporary Jazz Charts. Paul has collaborated with several R&B musicians and, when he’s not working on his recording projects, he travels the smooth jazz circuits and take the stage with other smooth jazz artists playing at jazz festivals and venues.
