This video was produced by the NSW Police Force to raise awareness of domestic and family violence, which is one of the largest volume crimes that police deal with on a daily basis. We want to remind the community that domestic violence is a crime, not a relationship issue.
Always call Triple Zero (000) to report domestic violence if you have fears for your own, or somebody else's immediate safety.
Domestic and family violence impacts on people from different socioeconomic groups, genders, ages and cultures.
Last year, the NSW Police Force responded to over 128,000 incidents of domestic violence, however this is believed to be the tip of the iceberg as only one in three incidents of domestic and family violence is said to be reported to police.
On average, there are 36 domestic and family violence related homicides in NSW each year, but only one in ten victims were known by Police to be in an abusive relationship in the year before their deaths.
